♥ Todaiji Temple


About Tadaiji Temple. In 784, Emperor Kammu moved the capital from Heijo-kyo (Nara) to Nagaoka and then Heian-kyo (Kyoto) to escape the meddlesome influence of the powerful Nara temples on affairs of state. (Picture of the enterance before entering the Daibutsu Hall)


Visiting the Todaiji Temple was an interesting experience for me coz visitor will be welcome by lots of deer. You will be able to feed them close up and personal and that really make you feel like you are back to nature again. There are almost hundreds of deer that roaming freely in the premises but visitor please be careful and be warn that shits are everywhere too…hahaha! You will be also amaze by how tame all those deer is. If u want to feed them they will just walk slowly towards you. When you done with the feeding they will just walk away from you or at the most they will follow you for awhile before they realised that there is actually no food left for them.
Todaiji Temple, the largest wooden structure in the world but now only two-thirds of its original size.

Before entering the temple, it is a form of respect and also a tradition that you wash both your hands. First the left hand then right. Follow by which you need to rinse your mouth, spill out the water as so to proof that you are clean to enter.


The Daibutsu all contains a 14.84 metrre bronze statue of Rushana Butsu, later known as Dainichi (or the "Cosmic Buddha") in Japan's esoteric Buddhism. *sorry for the poor picture taken coz the statue is really too big!"

My tour guide say there is two way to make your dream come true one is to go through that hole (it is not big ok!) another is to write it down on this wooden board and hang it! If you think coming out of the hole is easy? NO it is NOT! Try it yourself and you will know!
