♥ Kinkakuji - Golden Pavilion


























Kyoto was Japan's capital and the emperor's residence from 794 untilo 1868. It is now the country's seventh largest city with a population of 1.4 million people and a modern face.
Over the centuries, kyoto was destroyed by many wars and fires, but due to its historic value, the city was not chosen as a target of air raids during World War II. Countless temples, shrines and other historically priceless structures sruvive in the city today.
Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion) is a Zen temple formally known as Rokuonji. In 1397 construction started on the Golden Pavilion as part of a new residence for the retired shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. Kinkakuji was converted into a Zen temple after Yoshimitsu's death in 1408.
The Gold Pavilion functions as shariden, housing scared relics of the Buddha and is covered in gold leaf. The present building dates from 1955 as the pavilion was burnt by a fanatic monk in 1950.
When Thomas and me got the ticket to enter the Golden Pavilion both of us was so shocked by it! Yes...it seem quite amusing to us!! It is such a big pcs of paper with many wording printed on it that no one will bother to read it!








This tree is believe to be 500 years old. The bamboo is used as a support for those branches that keep stretching out as years goes by.




Small little area and a tea house for people to enjoy their tea.
